Dr. Kevin Klauer
Chief Executive Officer, AHIMA


Dr. Klauer formerly served as health system Chief Medical Officer at HCA Florida and Ocala hospitals, CEO of the American Osteopathic Association, and the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Risk Officer for TeamHealth. He holds the following faculty appointments: Clinical Assistant Professor, Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine; Clinical Asst. Professor, Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is the co-author of four risk management books: Bouncebacks: Critical Care, Bouncebacks: Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine; Bouncebacks: Medical and Legal and Risk Management; and the Emergency Department: Executive Leadership for Protecting Patients and Hospitals. Dr. Klauer also served as the American College of Emergency Physicians Council Speaker and subsequently as a member of their Board of Directors. Dr. Klauer earned his Executive JD, with honors, from Concord Law School in 2011.

Connie Renda, MA, RHIA, CHDA

Connie connects the health information and revenue cycle industry as a trusted Verisma partner and thought leader. Connie’s also program director and professor of HIT at Mesa College. In addition, Professor Renda directs changes and manages their associate degree program in HIT. Connie’s also an AHIMA member and CHIA president and serves on the CCHIIM board for exam writing and review committees for both credentials. She’s earned a BA from Santa Clara University in psychology, an MA from SDSU in psychology and statistics, and a MA from the College of St. Scholastica in HIM and healthcare informatics.

Nelson R. Liston II, RHIT

Nelson's responsibilities include managing client relationships through technology, solutioning, operational support, and the customer and client consumer experience. Nelson’s career spans 25+ years in health information (HI) and revenue cycle, including Director of Health Information Management & Privacy Officer and Senior Director of Revenue Cycle Solutions. He has been very active in the West Virginia Health Information Management Association (WVHIMA) CA, serving the membership in all roles on the board of directors, including three terms as President, 2015-2016, 2021-2022 and 2022-2023. Nelson was also honored with the Distinguished Member award in 2020 and has received several other honors including the Zetra Kennedy Memorial Scholarship award for academic achievement. Hel also serves on multiple Health Information Technology (HIT) advisory boards including two in his home state of West Virginia for West Virginia University and Fairmont State University.

Elizabeth administers Verisma’s privacy and compliance programs, collaborating with clients to implement evidence-based best practices and overseeing thought leadership initiatives. Elizabeth has worked in the HIM and ROI fields for 15+ years, covering all industry areas from customer service to compliance. She serves as a delegate to the AHIMA House of Delegates. Elizabeth is also the current regulatory chair at AHIOS. She earned an MHA with a specialization in health informatics from Capella University, and a BA in political science from Illinois Wesleyan University.
