Health information (HI) professionals have witnessed a rapid proliferation of new technologies to address new regulatory requirements and to streamline workflows. At the same time, there has been a constant stream of increasingly concerning cybersecurity threats, data privacy laws, and changing best practices.
In this webinar, we will demystify the terms and concepts of contemporary health IT so that attendees can confidently interact with colleagues, vendors, and other stakeholders. Ryan Freeseman, Verisma’s Director of Information Technology, and Elizabeth McElhiney, Director of Compliance and Government Affairs, will provide attendees with insights into specific concepts and terms as they guide HI professionals through current best practices and emerging trends in health IT.

Ryan Freesemann, the Director of Technology at Verisma is a healthcare technology expert with over two decades of experience focused on utilizing technology to help streamline patient care and data access. In the course of his career, Ryan Freesemann has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to simplifying complex healthcare technology solutions and optimizing (EHR) Electronic Health Record systems. Working for over 6 years in a hospital system he helped manage the deployment and support of EHR systems to over 80 different practices and 19 different EHR instances. Ryan led a team that supported the conversion of numerous physician practices from paper-based systems to an advanced EHR solutions along with the onboarding of new physician practices. This work included aligning the technology to help successfully meet the Meaningful Use and MIPS initiatives. Prior to work within the hospital as a System Integration Manager Ryan worked closely with the IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) organization for over 8 years in integrating software among multiple vendors and medical devices. Contributed to the annual IHE Connectathon and Showcase at HIMSS each of those years. Throughout his career, Ryan Freesemann has remained dedicated to solving complex medical data challenges with technology while maintaining a patient-centered focus.
